INT: I awoke yesterday singing The Narcissist. Do you have got any sort of method or tips for making something go down easily?
Damon: Properly how’s that track on My Truthful Woman? “a spoonful of sugar helps the drugs go down”
INT: The sugar include the melody?
Damon: I don’t know. It’s definitely not on the lyrics, the lyrics are not often uplifting. Spike Milligan was an excellent comic writer and on his grave stone he had inscribed ‘I informed you I wasn’t feeling nicely’ (laughs) It’s the joy and unhappiness of life. That last victory that makes individuals snicker. And that’s sort of the essence of melancholy: the belief that you're dying your greatest life.
INT: What’s the importance of the title of the album?
Damon: Darren is a good friend of everybody within the band. He represents all of us. Darren is everyman.
INT: Properly… did he undergo one thing considerably just lately?
Damon: Properly we all undergo vital things. Clearly as I wrote the songs I assume I went by way of some vital issues as properly. I am a licensed sad-55-years-old. I’m not afraid of unhappiness you realize.
INT: Is there an general emotional framework to the album?
Damon: I feel once they catch you sure songs will play together with your feelings quite heavely. Songs like The Everglades will snap individuals on the face at one level.
INT: Do you've got any sort of trepidation about writing weak lyrics or exposing yourself?
Damon: I suppose that in some ways this (report) is my weak. Vulnerability… by singing about it you’re one way or the other easing it. The vulnerability is diminished by your capability to precise it.
INT: Writing songs… does it enable you to to know your feelings or speak about it?
Damon: Sure however I don’t wish to make all of it about myself. I exploit the place I'm in my life and how I really feel to talk about different things typically.
