A stunning story from Blaze Bayley, lead singer of the British heavy metallic band Wolfsbane (and Iron Maiden for several years within the 90s), by way of Metallic Hammer (January 2008):
Blaze recollects one amusing moment during recording. “There was this shitty little indie band in there doing demos, or the B-sides for his or her single or one thing,” he says. “I feel they have been about to release their first album. We thought nothing of them at the time, but a number of years later, I was at an Iron Maiden convention in Brighton, and this drunk bloke got here crashing via the gang, singing the lyrics for [mini-album track] Paint The Town Purple in a very slurred manner. He was the fella who sung for that indie lot, and it was truly fairly sweet that he remembered Wolfsbane… and that music. Especially when you think about how massive they turned.”
And who was this drunken singer from “that indie lot”? Damon Albarn from Blur.
