Vinyl data have been a shock hit this Christmas, with weekly gross sales within the UK soaring to their highest degree this century in the course of the festive purchasing interval, fuelled by artists together with Taylor Swift, Fleetwood Mac and the Rolling Stones.

The vinyl record resurgence, with a new era of music lovers turning to retro formats reminiscent of LPs and cassettes, has fuelled a gross sales surge to their highest annual level since Elton John’s Sacrifice and Vanilla Ice’s Ice Ice Child topped the charts in 1990.
