“Certainly one of my lecturers brought me in to do a session with Damon Albarn. He was writing a Chinese language opera at the time (Monkey: Journey to the West). There have been six singers introduced in. He was writing ideas and recording vocalists singing them in actual time. He had a four-string Chinese language instrument and an engineer. He was singing these concepts they usually have been popping it on to a laptop, printing it out, and bringing it in to us. We have been singing it for him. He was getting an concept of what his ideas appeared like with real singers.

It was superb to see him work; what an unimaginable voice and vocal vary. The creativity could be very apparent. To see him at work was superb.”
