INT: I awoke yesterday singing The Narcissist. Do you could have any sort of method or tips for making something go down easily?
Damon: Nicely how’s that track on My Truthful Woman? “a spoonful of sugar helps the drugs go down”
INT: The sugar come with the melody?
Damon: I don’t know. It’s definitely not on the lyrics, the lyrics are not often uplifting. Spike Milligan was an excellent comic author and on his grave stone he had inscribed ‘I advised you I wasn’t feeling properly’ (laughs) It’s the joy and unhappiness of life. That ultimate victory that makes individuals chuckle. And that’s type of the essence of melancholy: the belief that you're dying your greatest life.
INT: What’s the importance of the title of the album?
Damon: Darren is a pal of everybody within the band. He represents all of us. Darren is everyman.
INT: Properly… did he go through one thing considerably just lately?
Damon: Properly all of us go through vital things. Obviously as I wrote the songs I assume I went by way of some vital issues as properly. I am a licensed sad-55-years-old. I’m not afraid of unhappiness you recognize.
INT: Is there an general emotional framework to the album?
Damon: I feel as soon as they catch you certain songs will play together with your emotions fairly heavely. Songs like The Everglades will snap individuals on the face at one level.
INT: Do you have got any type of trepidation about writing weak lyrics or exposing yourself?
Damon: I suppose that in some ways this (report) is my weak. Vulnerability… by singing about it you’re one way or the other easing it. The vulnerability is diminished by your capacity to precise it.
INT: Writing songs… does it make it easier to to know your feelings or speak about it?
Damon: Sure but I don’t wish to make it all about myself. I exploit where I'm in my life and how I really feel to speak about different things typically.
