INT: I awoke yesterday singing The Narcissist. Do you've got any type of method or tips for making one thing go down easily?
Damon: Nicely how’s that music on My Truthful Woman? “a spoonful of sugar helps the drugs go down”
INT: The sugar come with the melody?
Damon: I don’t know. It’s definitely not on the lyrics, the lyrics are not often uplifting. Spike Milligan was an excellent comic author and on his grave stone he had inscribed ‘I informed you I wasn’t feeling nicely’ (laughs) It’s the enjoyment and unhappiness of life. That remaining victory that makes individuals snigger. And that’s type of the essence of melancholy: the belief that you are dying your greatest life.
INT: What’s the significance of the title of the album?
Damon: Darren is a pal of everybody in the band. He represents all of us. Darren is everyman.
INT: Properly… did he go through something considerably lately?
Damon: Properly we all undergo vital things. Clearly as I wrote the songs I assume I went via some vital issues as nicely. I'm a licensed sad-55-years-old. I’m not afraid of unhappiness you understand.
INT: Is there an general emotional framework to the album?
Damon: I feel as soon as they catch you certain songs will play together with your emotions quite heavely. Songs like The Everglades will snap individuals on the face at one level.
INT: Do you've gotten any type of trepidation about writing weak lyrics or exposing yourself?
Damon: I suppose that in some ways this (report) is my weak. Vulnerability… by singing about it you’re someway easing it. The vulnerability is diminished by your potential to precise it.
INT: Writing songs… does it show you how to to know your emotions or speak about it?
Damon: Sure however I don’t wish to make all of it about myself. I exploit the place I'm in my life and the way I really feel to speak about different things typically.
