INT: I awoke yesterday singing The Narcissist. Do you might have any sort of components or tips for making something go down easily?
Damon: Properly how’s that music on My Truthful Woman? “a spoonful of sugar helps the drugs go down”
INT: The sugar come with the melody?
Damon: I don’t know. It’s definitely not on the lyrics, the lyrics are not often uplifting. Spike Milligan was an excellent comic author and on his grave stone he had inscribed ‘I advised you I wasn’t feeling properly’ (laughs) It’s the joy and unhappiness of life. That remaining victory that makes individuals chuckle. And that’s sort of the essence of melancholy: the belief that you're dying your greatest life.
INT: What’s the significance of the title of the album?
Damon: Darren is a good friend of everybody within the band. He represents all of us. Darren is everyman.
INT: Nicely… did he undergo something significantly lately?
Damon: Nicely we all undergo vital things. Clearly as I wrote the songs I assume I went via some vital things as nicely. I'm a licensed sad-55-years-old. I’m not afraid of unhappiness you recognize.
INT: Is there an general emotional framework to the album?
Damon: I feel as soon as they catch you sure songs will play together with your feelings quite heavely. Songs like The Everglades will snap individuals on the face at one point.
INT: Do you could have any sort of trepidation about writing weak lyrics or exposing your self?
Damon: I suppose that in many ways this (document) is my weak. Vulnerability… by singing about it you’re someway easing it. The vulnerability is diminished by your potential to precise it.
INT: Writing songs… does it make it easier to to know your emotions or speak about it?
Damon: Yes however I don’t wish to make all of it about myself. I exploit where I am in my life and how I feel to speak about other things typically.
