Director Toby L on the Blur movie: To The Finish is an intimate glimpse into relationships, motivation and mortality, the sights and sounds of long run friendship unearthing a recent new conquest to beat collectively. With reference to capturing a band that has been so nicely documented, we sat down firstly of the challenge and agreed that the movie needed to tell a new story, be shot solely on location, and crucially, be trustworthy. In To The End, that’s what I hope individuals can see, and most importantly, feel.
Working with blur on this documentary, over the past yr has been the honour of a lifetime. They have been the primary band I ever noticed - once I was 10 - at Wembley Area. To think about that a bit of over 25 years later, I’d be making a film with the band that modified my whole world view on art, tradition and music, remains completely surreal. I hope that via watching it individuals feel just a little closer to this unimaginable group of artists and buddies, and have a richer insight for a life spent being in a band.
