INT: I awakened yesterday singing The Narcissist. Do you could have any sort of method or tips for making something go down easily?
Damon: Properly how’s that track on My Truthful Woman? “a spoonful of sugar helps the drugs go down”
INT: The sugar include the melody?
Damon: I don’t know. It’s definitely not on the lyrics, the lyrics are not often uplifting. Spike Milligan was an excellent comic writer and on his grave stone he had inscribed ‘I advised you I wasn’t feeling properly’ (laughs) It’s the enjoyment and unhappiness of life. That ultimate victory that makes individuals snicker. And that’s sort of the essence of melancholy: the belief that you're dying your greatest life.
INT: What’s the importance of the title of the album?
Damon: Darren is a good friend of everybody in the band. He represents all of us. Darren is everyman.
INT: Properly… did he undergo one thing significantly just lately?
Damon: Properly we all undergo vital things. Clearly as I wrote the songs I assume I went via some vital things as properly. I am a licensed sad-55-years-old. I’m not afraid of unhappiness you realize.
